We are really pleased to announce a new initiative - the 'Triangle Grow & Show'! 🥕🍎🥬🥔🍓🫑🧅
Grow your own fruit and veg (in beds, pots, hanging baskets, window boxes - anywhere!) show your progress as you go, and share any surplus produce with your neighbours. This is a project for total beginners as well as those who have some experience to share - we can all learn together. The ‘Grow & Show’ will be kicking off with a collaboration with Mud Island Community Garden for a tutorial and Q&A session via Zoom on Thursday 15th April from 8 – 9 pm. Mud Island have been running a hugely successful community garden in North Strand for several years now, and have kindly agreed to share some tips and tricks with us - check out their website at www.mudisland.ie. To find out more about the Grow & Show project and/or to sign up to the Zoom Q&A session just drop an email to [email protected] For Easter, the DTRA are raising money for St. Vincent de Paul through our 'Easter Egg Drop'. If you would like one the DTRA Easter bunnies to hop into your garden on Easter Saturday to leave an Easter surprise, just drop an email to [email protected] with your address and the number of eggs needed.
Keep an eye out for our DTRA volunteers tomorrow, for our St Patrick’s Day ‘mini parade’ around the Triangle We would love to see you cheer us on, from the safety of your gardens We will be taking off at 12 pm. If you fancy getting into the spirit of things by dressing up for a jig around your front garden, or dressing up your windows, all the better! ☘️🇮🇪
In advance of our AGM on 3rd February via Zoom, the DTRA are seeking members old and new.
DTRA members will be sent an agenda and link to join our Zoom AGM on 3rd February at 8.00pm. At the AGM we will be reviewing the DTRA’s activities during 2020 as well as looking ahead to plans for 2021 and beyond. We will also be launching an exciting new project and rounding up the AGM with a guest speaker. The election of officers for 2021 will take place during the AGM. The three officer positions are Chair, Secretary and Treasurer. There are also a variety of other volunteer roles available. As a member of the DTRA you have the opportunity to vote for officers and committee roles, to make nominations for election of officers, and to stand for election yourself. As a member, you will be kept informed of all DTRA activities during 2021 and have the opportunity to contribute in numerous ways to the activities - through ideas, knowledge, experience, organisation, physically getting to work, or simply sharing in the sense of community and fun! The membership fee for 2021 is still only €10.00. To join the DTRA for 2021, email [email protected] with your name, email address, phone number and the road you live on. You will be added to the list of attendees to the AGM, and the Zoom link and agenda will be sent to you together with methods of paying the fee of €10 per person. If you are a member and wish to stand for election to an officer role, please submit your interest by a deadline of Wednesday 27th January. Our wonderful Triangle values all our community, so join the DTRA for 2021 now! Triangle resident, Dermot Bolger, reads some of his local poems for us to enjoy during these dark winter days.
Click on the link above. Friends of the Elderly are offering a Christmas Dinner to people nominated to them by Residents Associations. The dinner will be delivered to nominees by staff and volunteers of Friends of the Elderly on the afternoon of 22nd December. The criteria to receive dinner is someone over 65 who have no family or regular visitors and who would be alone at Christmas time. If you know of anyone in this area who fits the criteria and who would like to receive a dinner, please email in their name, address and telephone number in complete confidentiality to [email protected] by 17th December. The DTRA will forward the information to Friends of the Elderly. A thorough clean up of leaves was undertaken yesterday evening where Walsh and Ferguson Roads meet Griffith Park.
